Artemisia was a title of 2 queens of Halicarnassus in the 5th century BC and 4th century BC.

A number one Artemisia wwhen a girl of Lygdamis & was install as a tyrant of Halicarnassus by the Persians, who were at a period a master of Ionia, after a demise of her hubby. She participated in the Battle of Salamis in 480 BC when a Persian ally with 5 ships, however as she was astir to exist as captured per Greeks, she purposely or even inadvertently rammed & sunk a Persian ship, inducing the Greeks to spare her life when it believed she got defected to the Greek side. She escaped back to a Persians, in which the Persian king Xerxes I declared she had fought "like a man" when a rest of his fleet got fought "like women". Herodotus as well had the favourable opinion of her, despite her trend lines of Persia, probably because he was also from either Halicarnassus. Artemisia convinced Xerxes to retreat back to Asia Minor after the kill at Salamis, contrary to the advice of Mardonius, who wanted Xerxes to stay. Xerxes so sent her to Ephesus to take care of his sons. She was too said to develop fallen gaga sustaining a human known as Dardanus, & whenever he ignored her she leapt to her dying into the Aegean Sea from Leucas.

A 2nd Artemisia was a married woman (& sister) of king Mausolus of Halicarnassus in the 4th century BC. She got a Mausoleum built for him after his demise, & a building was late considered one of a Seven Wonders of the World.
